  • The cruising season is underway in Kochi …

    Kochi, the foremost cruise destination in the country is buzzing with activity in this busy cruise season. With 40 luxury liners expected this season, Kochi will also play host to the world famed Luxury liners Queen Mary II and the Queen Elizabeth dock this season.

    The arrival of Luxury Liner Aida Aura at Kochi Port marked the beginning of the 2010 cruising season this October with 1,233 passengers. The off- Shore Excursions to Fort Kochi and Mattancherry were popular, some of the visitors also took a short trip to the Vaikom Village in Kottayam district.

  • Tamil Nadu Tourism welcomes a student group from Singapore

    Tamil Nadu Tourism recently players host to a Student Group from Singapore, The interaction saw both side exchange ideas and learn about the ethos and tourism opportunities of their lands, a meeting that was truly taking forward the ''Global Village Concept". Tamil Nadu Tourism showcased several salient features of the state like the Cerulean mountains, Sandy Beaches, its diverse flora and Fauna,, temple architecture to name a few. This interactive platform was seen as meaningful cultural exchange between both countries. It is yet another step of the state tourism towards fostering stronger ties with Singapore as working towards an increased number of tourist arrivals into Tamil Nadu from the country.

  • IASC 2011 – at Hyderabad from 10-14 JAN

    The 13th Biennial Conference of the International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) will be held in Hyderabad, India from January 10th to 14th, 2011. The Conference is being held in South Asia for the first time; and will be hosted by a practitioner organization - Foundation for Ecological Security (FES).

    International Association for the Study of the Commons (IASC) is the leading professional association dedicated to the study of the commons. By bringing researchers from different disciplines together with practitioners and policymakers, the association aims to improve general understanding of shared resources (commons) and provide sustainable solutions for related issues.

    The Conference will deal with physical common resources such as Forests, Grazing Resources, Protected Areas, Water Resources, Fisheries, Coastal Commons, Lagoon Commons, Irrigation Systems, Livestock and Commons and New Commons such as Information Commons, Cultural Commons, Genetic Resources, Patents, Climate, etc.

    This conference will also have Dr. Elinor Ostrom Nobel Laureates, Distinguished Professor at Indiana University in Bloomington, USA and Founding President of the IASC shall address the plenary this year. She was awarded the Nobel Prize for Economic Governance in 2009, “for her analysis of economic governance, especially the Commons,” celebrating her robust and rigorous career studying and working on Commons management and governance.
  • Kerala Tourism’s latest promotional movie ‘Your Moment is Waiting’ was unveiled at a Saatchi Gallery at London in a red carpet event held before a star studded audience including Soccer stars Didier Drogba, Gary Linekar, actors Bill Nighy, Sadie Frost and Dougray Scott, glamor couple Yasmin and Simon Le Bon, British MPs Lord Swaraj Paul and Keith Vaz, models Anna Friel, Jade Jagger and TV presenters Lisa Snowdon and Mariella Frostrup, Sam Branson to name a few.
