The Mysore Palace has a beautiful sandstone coloured architecture with cherry red dooms. The official residence of the Royal Wodeyar family that once ruled the Mysore Kingdom, it is one of the biggest palaces of the country that is located in the heart of the city of Mysore, now Mysuru, in the state of Karnataka.

The sound and light show that is held in the grounds just in front of the palace is a major tourist attraction. The 45 minute long show that starts at 7 pm is a beautiful rendition of Mysore’s history that is narrated through the combination of light and sound.

Another attraction is the Mysore Dasara festival during which the Palace is illuminated with nearly one lakh LED lights that make it look like a masterpiece made out of gold.
