Yercaud – explore the coffee estates and cave temple

Joe Julian Trivandrum The coffee estates are so well maintained and provide such a tranquil environment that I was compelled to extend my stay and explore them even more. And do go to the highest point of Yercaud, the Servarayan Temple. The view from there is simply breathtaking, especially when a layer of mist envelopes the landscape.

Located in the majestic hills of the Shevaroys range is this charming little hill station called Yercaud that serves as the weekend getaway for the people of Salem district. The picturesque sceneries of lakes and waterfalls, and its beautiful sightseeing spots make Yercaud one of the most attractive hill stations in Tamil Nadu.

The 28 km long journey from the city of Salem to Yercaud is a refreshing experience. While you pass through the dense green forests that adorn the hills, expect to encounter adorable visuals of baby monkeys clinging on to their mothers tightly as they cross the road with great caution. Halfway through, you can break your journey and enjoy some freshly cooked snacks like the onion pakoras that are sold on the roadside stalls.
